TILP Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH - pioneer for investor rights

TILP Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH ("TILP" - formerly TILP Rechtsanwaelte), with its office in Tuebingen, is one of Germany's leading and most experienced law firms with an exclusive focus on effectively protecting the interests of aggrieved investors, whether they are institutional clients, family offices or private investors.

The media and even their competitors share this opinion: For many years now TILP is considered as one of the market leaders in the fields of banking law and capital market law in Germany. The business news magazine WirtschaftsWoche regarded Andreas Tilp as "the number one among capital market lawyers" (18 April 2009), for the Sueddeutsche Zeitung, he is "the Nestor among the investor protection attorneys" (25 November 2008). The handbook for corporate law firms 2011/2012 of JUVE, the leading legal expert publication, evaluates TILP as one of the top four leading law firms in the area of investor protection law, in which it has an "exceptional position". Furthermore, JUVE ranks TILP as "one of the leading law firms representing both, institutional and private investors in banking and capital market law matters ... which ranks among the top tier addresses for years now and ... which decisively has shaped this field of law". Moreover, competitors attest TILP is "functioning as a kind of role model and has a high professional competence".

Since 1994, TILP has successfully acted in the fields of banking law, stock market law, investment law and capital market law. Since then, the law firm has brought about more than 100 decisions of the German Federal Court of Justice (Bundesgerichtshof) and the German Federal Constitutional Court (Bundesverfassungsgericht) which were of fundamental importance for investor rights in Germany. The journal FOCUS referred to the German Federal Court of Justice's decision on hidden commissions charged to investors (the so called "kickback decision"), which was argued by TILP in December 2006, as a "sensational decision" (edition 11/2007). For consumer advocates this decision constituted a "major milestone in consumer protection". TILP was also the first law firm in Germany to win damages from EM.TV for an investor in the company in a legally binding decision. Moreover, in what remains the "biggest court proceeding in German economic history" (DER SPIEGEL as of 3 March 2008), TILP is representing before the Higher Regional Court (Oberlandesgericht) of Frankfurt the model case plaintiffs in both model case proceedings against Deutsche Telekom, which are also known as the "KapMuG cases", and, in addition, before the same Senate also the model case plaintiff in the AHBR/CorealCredit Bank AG liability case. Since January 2011, TILP has represented the model case plaintiff in the model case against Hypo Real Estate before the Higher Regional Court of Munich.

The business magazine CAPITAL calls firm founder Andreas Tilp "an established force ...considered one of the most experienced attorneys..." (edition 17/2006). The journal DER SPIEGEL refers to him as an "international experienced investors' attorney" (edition 31/2008). According to the evaluation of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, he is "probably the best known attorney in this country" (16 August 2009). Andreas Tilp acted inter alia as an expert for the Corporate Governence commission of the German government - today he is a vehement advocate for the interests of aggrieved investors at the roundtable discussions and hearings of the German Bundestag and of the European Commission. He also represents these interests at the working team on consumer rights of the federal financial supervisory authority BaFin and as one of Stiftung Warentest's panel of experts on legal issues. Andreas Tilp has authored numerous well-known publications in the field of banking law and capital market law and has held presentations as for example at events such as the Banking Law Day (Bankrechtstag) and the German Attorneys Convention (Deutscher Anwaltstag) as well as at top-level seminars. Besides that, he is also a member of various judicial associations.

TILP is a partner law firm of the New York law firm TILP PLLC as well as of the Swiss law firm TILP International AG, which are specialized in the representation of institutional investors and corporations in the field of capital market law and antitrust law as well as in litigation funding.
